There are two Lok Sabha seats in the capital Lucknow. Generally, rural voters show more awareness than urban voters while casting their vote. This trend is seen in a different way in Lucknow. In the first six Lok Sabha elections, urban voters voted more than rural voters. After this, voters of Mohanlalganj seat are seen voting more continuously.
In the first Lok Sabha elections, apart from the Lucknow parliamentary seat in the capital, there were rural seats including Barabanki. Then only 42.03 percent voting took place on Lucknow seat and 34.10 percent voting took place on rural seat. In the next elections held in 1957, there was only one seat in Lucknow. And a total of 45.12 percent voting took place on this.

60% voting has not taken place on Lucknow seat till date: The direction of the country’s politics is decided by the state. Despite this, the residents of the capital have always lagged behind in voting. This is the reason why after independence till date the 60 percent mark has not been crossed even once in any election in Lucknow seat. The highest turnout of 58.49 percent took place in the 1962 elections. The voting percentage in Mohanlalganj seat has definitely crossed the sixty percent mark in the last two elections.
Urban voters prevailed over rural voters till 1977.
In the 1962 elections, 58.49 percent voting took place in Lucknow seat and 46.20 percent voting took place in Mohanlalganj seat. Till the elections of 1977, urban voters prevailed over rural voters in voting. After this the situation changed and the voters of Mohanlalganj took the lead. Meanwhile, the year 1996 was the only election in which the voters of Lucknow took the lead in terms of voting percentage. It was enjoyable and also raised awareness.
